Hello everyone, Camp had ended-FACT! I hope everyone had enjoyed themselves. Now it is time to select another new batch of 'successors' who will bring our camp to ano hter higher level. right now there are a lot of camps going on.(hopefully those interested parties will not missed out).

We would like to open recruitment for President and 2 vice President post. No Piror MainCom experience needed (meaning? any1 inclduing freshie or subcom can apply for it). If you are interested, just drop us an email at insinyur.camp@gmail.com with the subject title with the post you are interested in. We will contact you for further information upon receiving the email. deadline : 22july

Interview will be conducted and you are adviced (best to have la...) to come up with a proposal plan for the porfolio position are running for. Determine your commitment level, camp interest, passion for the camp and the future of the freshies, before you decide.

In the meantime, it is time to start thinking about other portfolios positions as well(not open yet... but it will be done soon). If you have no idea or need tips on running the portfolio positions, it would be best to talk to the Main Coms.

Hello freshies, In a short span of time Insinyur Camp 2011 had ended. I hope you have a good time and make new friends. Friends who are not selected for the camp please do not be dishearten, and our recruitment will be starting soon.

The camp will not be possible without the help of the sub coms who haven been putting alot of effort throughout the year. Not to forget our sponsors who supported us throughout the camp.

In the short 2 month span(june-july), our blog had attracted a highest visit rate of 6,467 page for june and 7,589 page view for july with an average of 220+ pageviews per day. We would like to thank everyone for their support and hope to see you next year!

Preparing for camp had reached the most crucial stage.Most of the loose ends were tied up, and many fine details were ironed out, and most of the things needed were completed.

A few hours more, and all those who have made it through the main camp would be gathering at the designated meeting point and meeting up with the people whom you'll be spending the next few days with, through thick, thin, spaciousness, and 'squeeziness' heh.

We're really excited over here, lots of things have happened in the last 24hrs to prepare for your first entrance into university life. Right now, most people are erm, asleep, and I have no idea why I'm awake(too excited!!!!!).

Ah yes, I would like to express my gratitude for all those who have thought so well of the camp, sent in their application forms, and are enthusiastic even though lady luck did not shine on them for this camp. Please do not forget our sponsors had put in effort to make this camp possible.

Over the next few days we'll probably have less time to blog, read/send email so do bear with us if we don't reply your emails as promptly.

Dear freshies,

It is officially 1 more day to Insinyur camp. You are strongly encourage to rest well, drink plenty of water and get recharged for our camp. The seniors are preparing camp stuff for you, and some of them are still doing their final practice/rehearsal. We want this camp to be a successful one!

Please come to our camp full of energy and get ready to get high! Come with an open heart and be ready to make new friends. The seniors are helpful and friendly, we will do our very best to ensure everyone have a nice experience throughout the camp.

A: I was so glad that they chose me

A: Well, it’s definitely way more fun as the people who came to Insinyur camp were here to have fun, unlike ‘camp’ that only come for the sake of coming to meet new people

A: ya, definitely! almost everyone in the camp? =P

A: I have both an introverted and extroverted side to my personality. I portray my extroverted side when it comes to friendship. I enjoy talking to people and meeting new friends. No matter how depress I am, I will brighten up when my friends are around me. I value my relationship with my friends a lot.

Many of my friends said that when i dont smile, I tend to look quite unfriendly. However, once they get to know me they said that I actually laugh a lot and fun to be with. As for myself, I like being with my friends to enjoy and have lots of fun!

A: Attached

Q: Why did you join insinyur camp when you are a freshie?
A: I hope to meet new people and course mates to make my NTU life livelier! Moreover, I am looking forward to the upcoming fun games from Insinyur!

Q: What you are expecting from the camp?

A: I believe this could be something to do with the camp I had in my poly life. Back then, the games we played were crazy and I made many awesome friends through the camp. Thus, I was hoping that could also happen in Insinyur camp.

A: PnP Sub-com

Q: Describe the feeling when you are selected for insinyur camp(as a freshies)?

A: Simply, happy!

Q: Have you made any friends the camp? Male? Female? Or potential bf/gf?

A: Yes, of course! Not only I made friends from my own OG, I also have the chance to know people from other OGs as well. The games were fun and well planned to allow freshies have enough chances to meet everyone. In addition, having the SP sessions & SP night allowed us to be paired up with an opposite gender to make friends too.

Q: Anyone you admire in the camp?

A: Personally, I admired all my OGLs from ADON as they have always portrayed their very best in front of us throughout the entire camp, despite being exhausted at the end of the day. They consistently displayed their leadership, passion and self -motivation in leading us throughout the camp.

Q: What makes you decide to join back insinyur camp as a senior?

A: As mentioned above, the outstanding traits from my OGLs are mainly the reasons that inspired me to take part in this upcoming Insinyur camp. Furthermore, I hope I could pass on the fun, joy and laughter to my freshies too, like how the seniors did during the previous Insinyur camp.

Q: What is the most memorable event in the camp?

A: The traditional ‘Muah-Chee’ at Sentosa! It was definitely unforgettable but memorable!

Q: How is your life after the camp?

A: My life has become even more exciting after meeting fun people! Some of the friends I met from the camp became important people in my life. After all, uni life is not just about studies, it also consists of friendship, joy and laughter!

Q: Tell us more about your decision to join insinyur camp. Any regrets?

A: Nope! I can’t think of any reasons to be regretful, as this is the camp that created a good start for my uni life.

Q: Are you excited about the upcoming camp?

A: ABOLUTELY! J

It is 3 days to Insinyur camp 2011. How about getting some of the seniors to share about their experience? PNP team had taken some time off to talk to a few of our seniors. They will talk about their experience during the camp, eye candy, life as a freshies, the selection process and of course the fun they had! In this installment, we have Reina Heng and Elaine Tang.

A: Camp is my thing.. =)

A: We may be future engineers (we are definitely not NERDS, alrite!!), but we know how to HAVE FUN =D

A: I’m just an average welfare subcomm, but previously the CGL.

Q: Describe the feeling when you are selected for insinyur camp(as a freshies)?

A: woohoo.. i’m going to camp *WIDE GRIN*

Q: How is Insinyur camp different from other camps you had attended?

A: 1^st impression – MORE GUYS?!?! HAHAHAHA but it is not really the case.. I like the idea of being able to stay in school for the 1^st few nights to feel how hostel life is like. ( that’s for my batch)

A: LOTSA friends!! My current bf is insinyur senior.. (girls where gt know if the guy is potential bf anot de.. LOL girls too shy to confess de la!) hahahaha

A: definitely, not nt much.. LOL.. i like boyish looking guys.. MUAHAHAHA..

A: Bring the insinyur spirit BACK to LIFE!!

A: Definitely the ultimate MUAH CHEE!! Nowhere else can you experience that.. Confirm plus chop!!

A: being active within insinyur, then u will feel the effect from camp lor.. The fun, the friends and the laughter + many HTHT!!

A: HAPPY & EXCITED.

Q: How is Insinyur camp different from other camps you had attended?

A: The freshies are more bonded with each other, taking great care of one another in the same GL. There’s a feeling of homeliness.

A: Made a network of friends, both male and female with their own unique character.

Q: Have you spotted any good looking male/elegant looking female freshies/seniors in the camp? Describe in detail*

A: (ERMMM, can don’t mention? LOL!)

Q: Anyone you admire in the camp?

A: All the Adon GLs? Because they took care of our welfare, encourage us, and ensure we have sufficient sleep and peace. If it is a must to mention someONE, then it shall be Chu Ern? As a GL In-charge for our OG, she has to be strict with us to ensure our safety and punctuality for activities. However, beneath that strict surface of hers, there’s actually a warmth and cheerful heart.

Q: What makes you decide to join back insinyur camp as a senior?

A: To uphold the ‘Pure Blood’ legacy and lead the new batch of juniors.

Q: What is the most memorable event in the camp?

A: The amazing race, when my Adon OG guys encouraged the girls and assisted them throughout the race, showing their care and concern for each other even though they have to overcome the strenuous race.

Q: How is your life after the camp?

A: Awesome. Advice from seniors and coursemates made life in NTU a lot easier.

Q: Tell us more about your decision to join insinyur camp. Any regrets?

A: Nope, no regrets. I would love to turn back in time to join insinyur camp and be a freshmen again.

A: Absolutely as it is my time to lead my own batch of freshies! Hehe.

Geeks and Chic

Hello freshies, A very good morning to you. I am very sure most of you have been informed about your application status. Irregardless if you are selected or not, we wish you all the best in your endeavor and your future in NTU . Our camp had limited places, hence we need to conduct balloting as the applicants outnumbered the limited slots of camp.

To those who are selected, once again. CONGRATULATION!!! YOU have been very lucky to be selected by the supervising staff from SAO! Now that camp is ... er... 4 days away, I am very sure you are all very excited. Some of you raise some questions... what is SP and what attire to wear?

Your friendly Main Com have some picture in mind and pictures say a thousands words. The theme is "Geek and Chic". It is advisable to dress out nicely as you will be meeting your "date" during the camp... besides 1st impression last right? Who know maybe... maybe... the date of yours turn out to be your future bf/gf... ???

Please be creative and prepare yourselves for the SP nite, ok? It is not hard to dress up, please refer to the pictures from your PNP main com photo's collection. It is possible to wear nice clothes, fashionable and yet 'geeky and chic'. The Jeez' is getting big big glasses frames... and the styling of hair!

If you still have no idea of how geek and chic wear. Let me take you to the streets of orchard road and spot how singaporeans wore to town. Geek? yes- check. Chic? yes- check. How about you pre-u students...? However, if you do not have any of the shirts/dress... you may wear your old school uniforms... but please make this a last option, with some alternation. Scroll down the post and see if school uniform really suits the occasion??? (note that in the following pics of the girls... they did not wear any specs... tt look geeky and chic... please bring them during camp..okays?)

'Geek'. Grey coat with blue graphic tee underneath. Side parting of hair, black specs frame and big round lens

'Chic'. Simple treadless sleeveless tanktop with 2-Pieces Pinafold Dress with trendy spec.

'Geek'. This Uncle dress in the 80's chinese style fashion. Black blazer with white chinese collar shirt. He has a brownish bow tie that matches his 3/4 pants.

'Chic'. Kawaii doll style. Long straight hair with shoulder length curls. White long sleeve shirt with grayish skirt.

'Geek'. Yellow submarine??? Like in the Beatles in 80's??? Yellow long sleeve shirt with matching light yellow pants folded to 3/4 length. Add on a short cuties tie. Ain't tt cute?

'Chic'. Typical Korean pop star look. With a white sleeveless top and denim shorts. Match with a denim jacket. Wow...

'Geek'. Who say wearing formal ain't geek? The hairstyle with his formal attire speaks for itself!

'Chic'. Japanese style fashion. Fashionable graphic tee with denim skirt. Long beige boots.

'Geek'. Any guys still have no idea of what to wear? Simple checker shirt with jeans. Add in a black bow tie and cardigan. Style the hair to the side and wear thick specs frame. There you go!

If you still have no idea what to wear after reading... and ogling at the pictures, you may choose to wear school uniform. It is not compulsory to wear what is shown in the pics. The choice is YOURS... !

Hi everyone!!!

Thank you for your overwhelming response and keen interest in joining us this year.Registration has ended yesterday and a balloting session will be held tomorrow. After which we will be contacting ALL (unsuccessful and selected) applicants between 2nd to 5th july, to inform you of the outcome.

Soooooooooooooo..... watch out for calls from unknown number as it might be bringing good news to you. (if you have a habit of not picking up phone calls from unknown numbers...please spare us...!) If you did not receive any call from us by 5th July, Please drop us a mailer at insinyur.camp@gmail.com, as chances are that your application did not reach us.

In any event that you are not selected, camp fee will be refun ded to you by 9th July.

Photos will be uploaded once deadline is closed, it will be uploaded bits by bits to keep freshies in suspence and keep our exciting programs secret. Senior Camp

Hello everyone. Senior camp had ended not too long ago. For freshies' info, senior camp is a trial camp organised by the seniors, your GL, Programmers, MC and everyone involved in the camp. The purpose to try out the games and enjoy the fun before actual camp starts.

The feedback was generally positive and everyone had a great time. It was awesome and most of us are very sad that senior camp ended so quickly. We are all hype up, enthusiastic , and 'high' about upcoming actual camp. It is going to be fun and we hope to see you there!

Camp will end on 14^th July per the camp dates stated, but for your own convenience and safety, we are providing optional lodging for the night.

THe supplier had sent us our 1st batch of brochures. Together with the application they form our FOC package,which had been posted out to you. This are not ordinary brochures, but interesting and exclusive brochures for MAE,CEE and EEE freshman of NTU.

If you have accepted NTU's offer into courses offered by the three schools, you should receive our FOC package. Meaning that you are invited to join out yearly Freshmen Orientation Camp. This time it is bigger,better and more fun than ever!

However, if you have not received the package by next week and have matriculated, fret not! Drop us an mail and we can email to you. Alternatively, we can also download it from our website, under the download section.

Kids in big world

After our exams ended, our very enthusiastic committee members volunteered for this " kids in big world event" by UOB. The main purpose is to allow kids of shoppers in United Square, to learn, share, experience 7 different occupations during the june holidays. The kids will be able to touch each occupations’ unique tools and equipments and field experts will be there offering valuable insights as well.

This is also a good chance to interact with the kids, and inspire them to greater heights.

This is official recess week. It doesn't matter if we are having quizzes or having assignments deadlines coming up. We study hard and we also play hard. It is more fulfilling to have a mini gathering and to discuss on our up-coming tshirt designs.

PlayNation visit

We came to PlayNation to play video games... they have the latest kinect games and wii games. It was so much fun. The games are mostly 'idiot-proof' and interactive. This outing also serve as an opportunity for our sub com to bond with each other.

It is the recess week. Time for the long anticipated break and wind down. Our Main Comm start to get busy as the camp draws nearer. Besides preparing for assignments, quizzes and many many activities... we took some time to meet up and relax a little.

This time the outing took place at Timbre @ Art House. It was a great meet up... eating thin crust pizzas, tasty chicken wings and having some ice-cold beer. The atmosphere is relaxing, and being affected by the mood, lots of interesting dialogue took place including some controversial GOSSIPS(WHAT'S NEW RIGHT?LOL)! There were new sighting of who-and-who being seen together ...And... several others.. that cannot be disclosed due to the fact that the safety of the author himself has to be taken into consideration.

We tried not to discuss about 'work' but due to the enthusiasm of the MC... this was kinda hard to avoid. Passionate leaders thinking and planning for the camp, hoping you freshmen and seniors alike, will enjoy the camp. The band was awesome and sang some nice music, he didn't want to sing "Grenade" on a lovely night, but it was cool. Unexpectedly, the band sang birthday song... and it turned out to be Mel's bdae. OMG! Did she evade MC about her birthday??? Nevertheless... Insinyur MC sent our wishes on her fb wall.

Turned out it was just an elaborate and epic prank being fabricated by the main committee that expands from Timbre to Facebook, so don't feel bad if you did not wish her birthday.

The Main com of Insinyur 2011/2012 are not just a normal committee that just plan FOC. Here is our fellow MC 21st birthday. Wads is more impt that that? We went down as a group to celebrate Chloe's birthday. Nothing beats having your playful committee member coming for your birthday celebration rite?

Hmmm, let's see, a fantastic location, right beside a swimming pool. A couple of crazy people grinning, and ready to pounce on the birthday. So what comes next would be.... Take a guess.

Anyway, the food was delicious. Thanks to Chloe for catering nice food for us. We manage to plays some games... (there is where some controversial things starts... scroll down, refer to Fig.Bonus Pic!) and nonetheless taking pictures with the birthday girl.

Anyway, the atmosphere is nice and warm. Before calling it a day, we sang birthday song to Chloe and presented our sincere wishes, during the cake-cutting ceremony. It was a nice gathering, filled with laughter.

Chingay. This annual festival is a highlight for Insinyur camp. Other than planning for camp, create events for members to know each other, we also did volunteer our service to help People Association during the Chingay parade. The famous parade usually held near the CNY period need no introduction.The parade held over two days was a fun experience for the volunteers, not only we enjoyed the show, we made new friends and learn more things during our short 2 day stint with PA. After the last day of exams, it is 25 dec. Christmas day. I would like to highlight this particular family tree which the freshies and seniors bonded with each other over the years. The OGs extends up to 3 generation. Urukhai (2008)/Charon (2009)/Cammy (2010)

This is a true test of friendship and friends made during camp bonded last till today. This gathering served as celebration of the end of exams and allow everyone to catch-up with each other. It was followed by gift-exchange.

There are a few OG which had consistent gatherings and keeping-in-touch with their juniors. This was our Insinyur tradition and it will last for a a very long time. I think future freshies will be touched to know that friendship forge during the camp is not forgotten but will last through out their uni day!

The management of 10/11 would like to thanks all camperas, freshies, juniors, GL and seniors for wearing our Iconic colourful tee shirt to school today. This marks our annual tradition and it will continue for years to come. Upon seeing larges waves of familar faces during a freshie's 1st day of school also gave them assurance that they are not 'alone'.

This day also mark the 1st day of sch starts, the colourful insinyur shirts shows a resounding presence of common engineering camp in school. As the slogan of our shirt say " adds life to NTU life". Indeed. There are more good news to come!

Insinyur 2010/11 Day 5

This is a late late post, but better later than never! Haha(if only professors could hear this explanation too)

Insinyur Day 5, is the day when the SP finally met, face to face, eye to eye. They say "absence makes the heart grow fonder." Since they never really met, and had only heard their SP's voices since day 1, I bet their hearts must be pretty fond now :P

Besides exchanging the keychains, the SP committee had lined up a series of games for the freshies to enjoy. "Bling Bling" was the theme of this year's SP. The main committee members also wore costumes to liven up the atmosphere, and make this year's SP a new experience for both freshmen and seniors alike.

Of course, before the big event, there is always pre-SP night. The guy is supposed to find their partner going through a series of obstacle course.

Alright, finally wrote the whole days of camp. Haha, I don't know what impact this 4 posts will make, but I just hope someday, the seniors and freshmen of Insinyur 2010 will come back to this blog to take a look when they are stressed and think of happy moments. I really hope you did smile at least just once looking at the posts, not because the author is funny(I know already!) but because you had a fun time, and you are happy just thinking back.

Insinyur 2010/11 Day 4

The main thing in the 4th day of Insinyur, which I remembered is the breakfast! MacDonalds, I'm lovin' it! Ok, obviously food is not a main item in Insinyur. Day 4 marks the day of the Amazing Race. Teams are to travel to a variety of checkpoints all around in Singapore, where they will perform tasks and get the next clue. Depending on the performance and speed, the points will be high or low, and added to the overall points of each group that will ultimately decide which is the best OG.
So in other words, it's a day where Insinyur split up and run all ard Singapore doing crazy thing, while enjoying each other's company.

The thing about good company with you is that, even your long buses, train rides, walks can be fun. Can talk a lot of stuffs, bond with your group, etc. It definitely beats sitting on the train alone.

Decided to split the parts it gets kinda too long. Day 3, Insinyurians hits the beach. Though everyone was tired because of the lack of sleep for some group, many still got some sleep while the bus took us from Aloha to the beach. The initial weather didn't look so good, but it end up still being sunny. The sun was OMGishly hot and people not applying sunblock confirm get charred. Played many beach games here exuberantly.

Ok, after a day of sunbathing, with the sunkissed skins so hot, we proceed to the night to our campfire! What's a camp without campfire, erh? Kudos to the GL's campfire commitee that planned this, from the buying of woods to the planning of events. The campfire's highlights were the mass dance(and a very long one) as well as the cheer fight. Congratulations to Ken for grabbing the awards for the cheer fight!

Insinyur Camp 2010 Day 1 & 2

I wonder who still visit this site after the camp ends. Haha but nonetheless, let's just have a quick recollection on what we have done in the 5 days of Insinyur. This is for the benefits of people who doesn't keep a blog, so that years down the road, you still can look at these stuffs, and laugh, smile, cry, fantasize about being poled (Just look at MingWei 2 posts down, he is so happy), remember how much you regret not getting your SP's no, the HTHTs, remember all the familiar faces, your eyecandies, your GLs, your FRIENDS.

Oh right... Here goes..

Day 1

Some of the seniors are already at the chalet the night before, touching up on identities or their individual portfolios. Not many got enough sleep, I think. Me? Sleep late but slept well. As dawn breaks, some of us set of to Boon Lay MRT, while others went to school.., Icebreaking games and introduction done in LKC. EmitAsia Talk and Telematch were held too.

After spending some time in LKC lecture hall, the freshies headed out to have their Know Your Campus(KYC) session. The rain apparently did't spoil the mood, judging by the happy looks the people portray.

Then, we moved to our accommodation at Aloha Changi, and learnt a bit of mass dance. This year mass dance's song is Gee, by SNSD. The dance was choreographed by your GL dance committee. The dance was great and flashy. You got to admit how good last year's dancing king and queen were, right?

Then it was some rest time, I never really heard complaints about snoring, so I assume everyone have a great sleep. And woke up for...

Day 2!!!
Day 2 begins with Telematch(of course before that is your breakfast, proudly brought to you by the Welfare Committee). Telematch was held at, if I am not wrong, Pasir Ris Beach. Nice weather ahead, shady trees around, fun and laughter heard, and the "bonding session" with the main comms.

Senior's Camp

Day1
Senior's camp was held from 2th to 4th of July. The 1st day, Insinyurians assembled at the school studio to learn mass dance. Of course, I was there learning the dance steps too. The GLs were good, instructions were clear, and if anyone would put in their heart to learn, a short moment will be all that is required to learn dance moves, that seem complicated on 1st glance, yet simple, after breakdown. Now, even I know how to do flashy moves..hehe:P

After the practice was lunch, and then the GLs went to touch up their banners. From their banner, I can really see how much effort was put in, hopefully not overshadowing my own subcomms one. Staying overnight at Downtown East, we awoke with not exactly the nicest of weather. But a little rain did not dampen the mood, just have to wait for the sunshine after rain. Before us, seniors, test the games for telematch.

IceCreamFrenzy Outing
A group of us went for an ice-cream outing some time ago, to collect vouchers, as well as get pampered with quirky yet delicious ice-cream. They are also open to new ideas from their pool of customers. Many flavours are especially catered for people living in Singapore like Tea Terik, Pineapple Tarts, and many others. If you cannot find the flavour you want, you can suggest to them, hahaha. The enthusiastic and friendly crew will answer your needs, and answer to your feedbacks:)

On 18th of June, several personnels from all walks of Insinyur gathered to prepare the booklets and paper for the freshman. Most reached before noon, while a few others reached early in the morning. Well, 1st thing 1st, I got the brochures from the suppliers, left it in the CEE clubhouse, and then went and buy envelop, the next thing I know, all done, only left the application forms. Good job people, we should totally work in some production line someday, haha. Some pics to share :)

Hahaha, someone posted before I can post, so I amended the dates, hahaha:P From the period of NATAS fair to now, two other events took place, namely the NorthEast Run and also the Reece for the Cycling route.Since the length of a post is inversely related to the days near exam, this is a perfect excuse for me to write a short post, WAHAHA.

Right 1st up.

Pre-NorthEast Run
Some of us assembled at White Sands Atrium early morning in the 6th of March. The registration from the NorthEast run is held there. The T-shirts and tags were distributed there, and we helped in it.

The actual event was held one week after the distribution. Runners from all walks of life and of all ages, came for the run. Insinyurians act as usherers, some as leaders

NATAS Fair 2010

The Natas holiday Fair was held at Singapore Expo Hall 4 & 5 at 26th, 27th and 28th February. This fair brings together travel special, tour operators and national tourism organizations, and present the various travel destination in the world. It is a convenient for anyone who wants to travel, from going for an adventure, to a honeymoon getaway.

Insinyurians reported there at 9am, and worked as runners and many other jobs.

Yeah! Chingay Parade 2010 was pretty much of a success this year too. Everyone did their job, and no big mishaps that I know of. And yes, bee, I never see you at Chingay also, haha.

I am pretty sure that majority of you people out there got to know more people of Insinyur, while doing your work.

It's been awhile( okay, maybe 'awhile' is an understatement...sorry, let's rephrase)

It's been a long time since I update the blog, hahaha, anyone miss me?

Some events had taken place, namely

Safari Zoo run

Safari Zoo run was held at 6th February, which is, well, obviously held at a Singapore Zoo. It starts at 3:30pm and cut-off at 6:00pm. The run was held with a purpose to remember Ah Meng's, the Singapore zoo's icon. Kinda envy the people who went for the event, because it's really been awhile since I visit the zoo, and see the elephants, giraffes, etc. Some Insinyurians went there to help out in this meaningful event.

Haha! Exams are finally over! Finally! The gruesome studying periods in Can 'A' finally ended. Hope exams are all right for everyone, even if it's not, burn the question paper and throw it away and shout 'WHATEVER!!' since it's all over. Play hard on this joyous month while it last. Congratulations for surviving a semester of your varsity life:)

Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon
This happened while I was still having exams, so I missed out all the fun. I swear I saw some familiar people on the TVmobile when they did a media coverage on this event, haha. Heard everyone had a good time together, before the event itself, but not during the event, haha.

The Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon is the nation's premier running event, a home-grown marquee event that has grown in size and scale beginning with 6,000 runners in 2002 to a record breaking 50,000 last year.

The Insinyurians were doing traffic control for such a huge crowd of people as well as passing out drinks. Something like what the last batch did during North Face.

The North Face Run

I never went for this event :s, so have to go around asking for what happened during the event itself. So pardon the lateness.

The North Face Run

The annual North Face Run is staged for the second time in Singapore. Held on October 24th at MacRitche Park, this event invites the best cross country-runners to run on one of the toughest terrain in Singapore. Muddy, rocky, grassy, sandy, hard, etc. and the shortest distance was 50km. In addition, the weather ain't exactly good.
Our exuberant Insinyur bunch of people volunteered at the water and food points, giving encouragement to the runners.

The most interesting thing I've heard, while "interviewing" people, is from the food station. Monkeys is pretty much a common sight at the park, so the people had to actually guard the food. They carefully analyzed where the monkeys will come from and jokingly analyze what they were thinking, as it seemed that the monkeys are ganging up and anxious to get the food. The monkeys still managed to get some of the leftovers from runners though. So people who were there saw monkeys eating Mars bar and Energy bar.

I am sure everyone in Insinyur should know about the Chingay event already. But just in case people who don't know, you have to reply to your respective main commers on which date you want to do BY THIS FRIDAY!!!

As you can see coming to this big scale event is a really great time to bond. I remember, I already know majority of my fellow subcomms(GLs) after this event, as well as, most of the main comms, because they were so crazy even after the rehearsals and were having a mini-splashing festival while waiting for the buses.

There were also several chances of having close-up contacts with the crews and the 花车(sorry I really don't know how to translate), as shown below.

Hey all,

Sorry for the really long absence, this blog isn't dead(but I am).
I just got to be the administrator for this site so here I am updating for the 2 latest events Insinyur's been doing.

Oktoberfest
First up, Oktoberfest, which was held from 30 September to 4 October 2009 at Swiss Club. The world famous German wheat beer, brought in events, food and drinks that was very pleasing to the 5 senses. The atmosphere was really great, makes you really feels like dancing. Very happy that majority of the subcommers were pretty enthusiastic about it.

Main Comm Retreat
Main Comm Retreat was held on Children day, 1st October at this new coscafe, call Ebisboshi Shotengai, situated inside Iluma. Had a fulfilling meal with the "All You Can Eat" Shabu Shabu lunch buffet. Unfortunately, no photographs were allowed to be taken inside, so we took some outside. It was like initatio.... not really, let's make that next year. I have carefully tried to avoid the word "old"here.

A few words before the sun rises up

In case anyone didn't know, there's this 24hr supermart in NTU called "The Sun".
But the 'sun' that i'm referring to here, is the one that the earth revolves. heh.

I've been away for hmm, 4 days? 'cos I've had to serve my nation and I do have to say this, I think my main commers did a really really good job in my absence. haha. (even though my phone kept ringing.)

Loose ends were tied up, and many fine details were ironed out, and most of the things needed were completed.

A few hours more, and all those who have made it through the main camp would be gathering at the designated meeting point and meeting up with the people whom you'll be spending the next few days with, through thick, thin, spaciousness, and 'squeeziness' heh.

We're really excited over here, lots of things have happened in the last 24hrs to prepare for your first entrance into university life. Right now, most people are erm, asleep, and I have no idea why I'm awake.

Ah yes, I would like to express my gratitude for all those who have thought so well of the camp, sent in their application forms, and are enthusiastic even though lady luck did not shine on them for this camp.

We've received a couple of emails regarding the one day event that I mentioned earlier and most definitely, we're taking all those suggestions into our consideration when we plan for it.

Over the next few days we'll prob have less time to blog, read/send email so do bear with us if we don't reply your emails as promptly.

Hi,

As most of you would probably have known the results by now, do allow me to say a few words, however much they may mean to you.

I've read most, if not all your comments about the camp and yes, as unfortunate as it sounds, we have had to reject more than half of the applicants this year. This is unprecendented as it seems this year, there are so many more of you enthusiastic freshmen who are excited about camp and would like to come take part in our activities.

I will not disclose the exact numbers of our initial intake, but I would assure you, it's no small number. Having planned for this event for the past one year, most of our resources and itinerary were planned for such a number.

When we tallied the final number of applicants for this camp, it was overwhelming as it came to nearly three times our planned number. It was delighting but at the same time saddening, that whilst we had received such good response, we are unable to cater to everyone. We have on our part, stretched our resources and increased our intake number.

Having said that, it would still be a shock to most, that they were, 'rejected by (their) own faculty'. Think for a moment, that if we were to pack say, 30 people into a room that was meant for 10, how would that work out, if not just for yourself, but also for the rest of the people.

I seek the understanding of those who were not selected for the main camp, and do try to appreciate our willingness to accept you into our camp, but am unable to do so due to many constraints that cannot be easily put into words.

In any case, I did pick up a suggestion from the tagboard, which was to set up a one day event for those who were not accepted.

My committee and I are currently working on this suggestion, but as our personnel are already heavily taxed during the camp week, I would like to propose an event to be held in the week after the main camp is held, 27th July - 31 July .

It could possibly be one that involves a tour of the school compound, (we could facilitate that), and also a day of activities out at say, Sentosa? Of course all are welcome to participate and it is in our budding plans to get people from the main camp down as well, so that we can make this a more meaningful session for one and all.

I would like to do a straw poll though, on how many people would like to attend this event, suggestions and volunteers for organising are welcome, and we'll try to incorporate the ideas. Do note that we most definitely not be able to satisfy everyone, and whichever date we happen to set, there will be people who are unable to make it.

Do let us know your response via our insinyur email: insinyur.camp@gmail.com,
and if there's a sizable amount of people, say >50, we'll hold it.

Camp Insinyur is not really just an orientation camp, we also have a few activities throughout the year, so perhaps those who are interested and ready to make tons of new happening friends could join us too. We'll keep people posted through this blog.

As the response was so overwhelming, admin might take abit longer. Yes, as mentioned in the last post there was a ballot for applicants, even I am surprised at the numbers this year. =)

As much as we wanted everyone to be in, due to some circumstances we are unable to accomodate everyone into the camp. Hence, we will inform those who are rejected lastest by next tues, 14th Jul '09, 2359hr (edited).We sincerely regret and apologised for not being able to take all in, we hope that you can understand.

In the mean time, I'm sure some of you should have recieved a phone call from the group leaders already. 'Grats to those who are in=) Onward to camp!! It's about 1 week away.

Dress Code for SP night

Hey everyone,

1) Many people have posted their query regarding the dress code for sp night. So here I'm giving you the update. This should clarify your doubts about what to wear. Currently, the dress code is set as smart casual.

For guys: Collared shirts, pants/jeans and covered shoes. Strictly no slippers/sandals, polos/ t-shirts.

For gals: Dresses.

If you are still confused, think of it as a dress code that you wear for clubbing ^^.

2) It is essential that you inform Collin if you have made your payment via ibanking/atm transfer, so that we will be able to track who have paid the camp fees. So please please inform him when you make the payment.

hello... errr... this is not my blog i know! last entry so because i post on wrong blog!! hahaha... anyway this is the first time i blog on the insinyur blog! I am the old bird aka oene of the CP (Chief Programmer) of insinyur.... i am here because i am very bored!!! since we haven't send any letters out to the freshies means that i can still talk crap here!!

I am currently doing IA (Inductrial Attachment) ... but we are all finishing IA soon!!!! YEA!!! this friday will be our last day!!! gong xi gong xi!! 5 months finally passed!!! ahhh.... joon hong and the wen hao shall we go celebrate the end of IA?? hahaha...

anyway back to camp!! This year's camp is very shiok ok!! u all must come back to camp insinyur k seniors!!! this year's SP nite is going to be VERY DIFFERENT!! After a long break of hols, and we are busy with all the camp preparations there wasn't much update. Sorry. But here I am updating the latest development of the camp.

1st up:

Main Comm Chalet: 23 May '09

Yep, to tie up the loose ends, discuss the current situation we are in. Before that, it's birthday celebration time!! Back to busniess: Camp was decided to be 1 day shorter, due to many unforeseen circumstances, like accommodation, since we are going to have a more mobile camp than we ever had before, we wont be staying in school anymore thanks to the renovation. WEE, look forward to the MOBILE INSINYUR CAMP!!

However, even with a day short, our major activities are still there. No worries =).

everyone's who's not gone through IA says IA is shiok, while all of us are like, 'please let us go back to sch....' haha.

anw, the camp date draws near.

camp prep is underway, even tho exams are here, welfare is busy doing accommodation bookings, and well, those not having exams are doing what they can to help with planning and meetings blah blah.

anyways, GOOD LUCK FOR EXAMS!!!!!! haha.

*Groan* It's the time of the sem again =(. Taking a break from studying. There are simply too many things to mug and cram. Not to mention the LOOOOOOOONGGGGGGGGGGGG break in between my 2nd and last paper.

and here we are going into the 12th week of IA...next week... wed i am going to do an operation to get the wisdom tooth out... so i excited about it... i shall ask my mum to take photo of the operation for me!! weehehe...
last friday... i was busy editing a schematic for my colleague... it was a challenge for me... cos it has major changes!! usually michael does the job but he was on leave that day so... xinlan gets the job!!! i spent hours editing that drawing.... focusing on every single detail and learning how to call out the functions from the autoCAD pro, cecile! wahahaha... i like to do drawings... friday was a good day really!! ... learnt loads of things... sense of achievement!!i managed to edit the schematic!! at first when i looked at the drawing i was quite worried that i can't do it ... but i DID IT!!! so ya happy friday!! then my colleague say might apply permit for me to go to site!!! yeahoo!!! i wanna go site!!
then... i really hope to get an A for IA!!!! i am currently looking for a new nice PSP game to play!!!... hohoho!!

A year has just passed. A new beginning and a new chapter of adventures awaiting. Happy New Year to everybody. =).

I hope everyone has enjoy their holidays so far. *smiles* Exam results are already out. For those who have done well, good for you. For those who didn't, no worries, jia you this sem!!

It's Insinyur day again =) Rmb to wear your Insinyur shirt on the 1st day of school (5th Jan '09) =). You are the best publicity for Insinyur *laughs*.

Cycling Outing!

Hey ppl! Half of the holiday is gone, hopefully you guys have spend the first half meaningfully and enjoying it. Well, if not, no worries, you still have the other half to relax away =). But for those who went for the cycling outing on 18th dec 08, definitely enjoyed it (putting the butt ache aside, *laughs*).

All the eager insinyur-ians gathered at BK around 11am and had a light brunch before renting the bike from kit runner. Yes, the same old kit runner that has been renting us bicycles and contributed to the success of our night cycling during the camp. Thanks to them again, we get to use the bikes for almost the whole day at a very low price. Basically, we were separated into 2 big groups to cycle off.

And we are off, cycling in the biggest park connector network in Singapore, that’s the eastern coastal connector, connecting up to 7 parks together forming a loop. The map of the network can be seen below. The route we took at this outing is similar to the route we use for night cycling during the camp. From East Coast to Bedok reservoir and then to Tampines and to Loyang and reaching our main destination, Changi. Of course, we do stop to rest and play with the facility (flying fox, swing). Having fun is one of our specialties, even in the midst of checking the route out for next camp.

Upon reaching Changi village, everyone just can’t resist the food (and the seats), had a bite and off we go, back to East coast via Changi beach and Changi Coast road. At the end of the day, based on someone's meter on his bicycle, We have cycled around 40km. Wow!! Hopefully you have fun catching up and cycling together. Singapore boring? Maybe not for the insinyur people.

hey all... hahaha... think most of u all shld be like mugging really hard for exams now.. ok la..gip china no exams..but i got IA(industrial attachment) report and 2x 2000 word chinese essay but tt will come later la.. ah..dun let those 2 scare those thinking of going gip or will be going to gip soon hor..hahaha.. anw since u all might be stressed up and all..ill post some pics of my gip exp esp during the 1 week national day holiday(yea..china ppl v patriotic one..national day give 1 week..unlike sg...). anw for those who dunno, im doing gip china(yr3sem1) which consists of IA and clearing 2 UEs in shanghai, china.

anw, china's national day is on the 1st oct and depending on companies most will take the week tt 1st oct lands on and give u a 1 week holiday.. so for this yr for eg its 29th sept-5th oct holiday. However some companies chu stunt and give 1st oct-8th oct(like my company Corning..try nt to choose it if u have the chance..its located at an ulu place and often late in giving pays...).. but still i took leave cuz i alr booked tix to xi'an(西安).. went to xi'an on the 29th sept-2nd oct...

haha..ok so tts the end of my post.. hope it has like relieved some stress for u all pro muggers out there... for those considering gip.. well hope it gives u a tiny preview of what u can expect out of the 6mths in china. and ur chinese dun have to be those A+++++ for A's or O's those kind..my A lvl chi is like C6 and im still surviving here! haha..

For those alr applied for gip and/or waiting for placements in china, seriously have fun esp during the holidays... of cuz u have to get a gd IA score, pass the 2 UEs blabla but then again dun forget to explore china too(since u are alr in china)!... and yes..dun believe 100% of what the ntu doc says abt roadside stalls in china... i ate countless roadside stalls and still havent ls-ed once.. ok la.. mayb im jus lucky but roadside stalls arent as scary and dirty as described..haha

and for the rest of u all pro muggers out there, jiayou for ur exams!!! ill cya all in sch(and some of u in meetings) in sem 2.. haha.. =)

Was helping to do up an article for Camp Insinyur to be published in the EEE, MAE, CEE newsletters and magazines.

Looking through all the photos that I have, can't help but keep laughing to myself.
(good thing I don't have a roomie...)

I realised why Insinyur is so fun. haha.
We're a bunch of mad people who do crazy stuff all in the name of fun.
By far, the things we do are out of this world. haha.

perhaps I shall post up some when I'm done withe the article.
then again, maybe not. hehe.
shall keep the new freshmen in suspense. :P

School is starting soon yet again! Siannnn... BUT NO! In Insinyur, the start of school is not sian at all because for us, the first day of school after every school holiday is INSINYUR DAY!!! Weeeee! Yes Insinyur Day!

To celebrate this day, all of us, members of Insinyur shall wear our Insinyur tee shirt to school. Any Insinyur tee, any colour, any design, any size. Our Insinyur tees are so colourful, they certainly add colours to life in NTU weeeee!
